Union reaches Historic Agreement with Sodexo in Israel
The Food and Pharmaceutical Worker's union of Israel has signed the first ever collective bargaining agreement with the Shefa catering company, which is owned by Sodexo Group. The agreement covers all 1000 workers across the company and is the result of lengthy negotiations between union representatives and management.
The union achieved a number of improvements to working conditions through the negotiations including: increased wages, overtime payments, a working week of 43 hours a range of leave entitlements and a reduction in the probationary period.
Additionally, the agreement provides for recognition of union representatives and a committee of workers within the company. The union is confident that these landmark negotiations will lead to further union organisiation and collective bargaining within other catering sector companies in Israel.
